Episcopal Church Will Have Youth Worship Services

Oct. 21, 2007 – Nazareth by the Sea Episcopal Church Mission will be having youth worship services at 5 p.m., on the second Sunday of each month, at Nazareth by the Sea Church at Cabrita Point Resort (in the former Seafood Jungle Restaurant by the tennis courts near the pink waterfront condos). The next three dates are Nov. 11, Dec. 9 and Jan. 13.
All youth members of the church, all families on St. Thomas, particularly at the east end, as well as youth members and the families of other churches in the Episcopal Diocese of the Virgin Islands are invited to participate in the services.
The purposes of the NBTS Youth Worship Service:
o To expand the teaching and involvement of Nazareth By The Sea young people in the regular Sunday worship and in daily Christian work with the goal of developing a strong, active and mission-orientated youth group.
o As an avenue for Nazareth By The Sea to reach out into the community with the intent of building and strengthening the congregation.
o As an active commitment to the church mission
statement.
o a forum for Christian education
o an example of Christian leadership
o a ministry of service to the larger community
Initially, youth will participate in the following activities at the monthly service:
o Altar Guild
o Greeting, ushering, collection of offerings
o Crucifer
o Lay reading and Prayers of the People
o Preparing and serving food at fellowship hour
Committee members and church members will coach the young people in the performance of these duties. Homily and hymns will be youth-friendly at the services, and all young people will be invited to sit in the front couple of rows. Guest musicians from other churches will be invited to perform.
