Leslie Lutrell Kurpiers Dies at 45

Oct. 18, 2007 – Leslie Lutrell Kurpiers died on Sunday, Oct. 7, at her home in Little River, S.C. after a long illness. On Thursday, Oct. 11, friends and family gathered on Sunset Beach, N.C. to celebrate Leslie's life and spread her ashes in accordance with her wishes.
Leslie was born in Arlington, Va. on Nov. 7, 1961. She moved with her family to St. Thomas in 1966 at the age of 4. Upon graduating from Sts. Peter and Paul High School in 1979, she moved to Flushing, N.Y., where she worked in restaurant management for a number of years. In 1989, she relocated to Kissimmee, Fla., where she accepted a position as one of the original employees of the new MGM Studios, Walt Disney World. It was there she worked until her illness disabled her in 1997. In 2003, along with her son and her partner in life, she moved to South Carolina to be near the ocean that she grew to love during her childhood in St. Thomas.
She is survived by her son, Rory C. King; partner in life of 18 years, Joseph P. Fox; sister, Laura Kurpiers-Terry; brother, Richard Kurpiers; brother-in-law, Bob Terry; niece, Amilinda Lima-McCrea and her husband, Mark McCrea; nephew, Roberto Lima Jr. and his wife, Erin Lima; great nephews, Jiovanni and Angelo; great nieces, Savannah and Makaila; and many friends.
