Let the Governor Lead

Dear Source:

What are the Senators doing with the acting Commissioner of Education?
I, as a Virgin Islander, implore all the stakeholders in our community to speak up and make a statement. Our silence will result in our destruction.
Call, fax, and email our senators; let them know the well being of our children in this community is as important as Property Tax or EDC issues!!
Its time for the VI community; the Rotary, the Chamber, the Teachers, the Realtors, the Merchants, the Women's Coalition, Queen Louise, EDC beneficiaries, Faith Based organizations and any other organization claiming to care…. SPEAK UP!!!
Let the Senators know we will not sit back and allow them to posture and play politics with our and our children's future. Especially not the ones that don't have children, or the ones who sent their children to parochial or other private schools. It's time for those of you who have children in school, you who are the Teachers, the Administrators and Principals; speak up !!!!!
Our Governor based his campaign and continues to base his administration's policies upon the educational foundation of our children. Repeatedly he reminds us, in almost each and every speech; without a good educational system and an educated work force, we are destined to continue losing our battle against crime and our struggle for economic growth and development. Why are our Senators so eager to micromanage and overrule him so early in his administration? I say we should give him our vote of confidence and allow him to lead these islands. Give him the chance.
The VI is a microcosm of the United Nations. We have people from all religions, races and nationalities living together in harmony. Why is it necessary to play the, 'not from here, go back where you came', card? The Governor is sticking his neck out in order to bring change and improvement to a broken system. The Senators should realize they are putting their neck on the chopping block if they chose to derail the Governor's plan for improvement. By not approving Dr. Spampinato, they will bear full responsibility for every dropout, every returned federal dollar, every child forced to take remedial courses in order to start college, every failed infrastructure, every overcrowded classroom and all of the other negatives that describe our existing educational system. Is this a responsibility the Senate wants? They haven't accepted the responsibility in the past, why do they want it now?
We have all to gain and little to lose.
