Outkast Crushes Winless Royals 28-1

Oct. 1, 2007 — League-leading Outkast showed no mercy Sunday as they pounded the winless Royal 28-1 in women's softball action at the D.C. Canegata Ballpark.
Making her pitching debut for Outkast, Danisha Samuel gave up three hits and a run, all in the first inning, before settling down and shutting out the Royals over the next four innings of the five-inning, 10-run, mercy-ruled contest.
Batting first, the Royals picked up their only run of the game on an RBI single off the bat of Shanae Liburd. Outkast tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a Royals error.
After the Royals failed to score in the top of the second, Outkast erupted for 12 runs in the bottom of the inning for a 13-1 lead and the rout was on. Outkast scored 12 runs on two-run doubles by Shandilise Hernandez and Ruchella Samuel, RBI singles by Hernandez and Kyanna Gonzalez, bases-loaded walks drawn by Aishal Samuel and Danisha Samuel, and four runs on five Royals errors.
The rout continued in the third when Outkast plated nine more runs for an insurmountable 22-1 lead. The Outkast runs in the inning came from two-run singles by Danda Samuel and Francheska Torres, RBI singles by Hernandez and Danisha Samuel, an RBI sacrifice fly by Shoya Hernandez and four Royals errors.
Outkast would close out the scoring for the game with a six-run bottom of the fourth inning, only one of which was earned. That earned run came on an RBI single off the bat of Aisha Samuel.
Danisha Samuel picked up the win for Outkast while Koreen Francis took the loss for the Royals. Top hitters for Outkast were Hernandez, 4 for 5 with four RBIs; and Ruchella Samuel, 3 for 4 with two RBIs. For the Royals, Liburd went 1 for 2 with one RBI while Camille Christian and Gloryvee Krigger both went 1 for 2.
