Wyatt Heat, Softball Inc. and Cross Tech Triumph in Hovensa Softball

Sept. 26, 2007 — Defending champions Wyatt Heat kicked off a three-game night in the Hovensa slow-pitch softball league Tuesday with a 10-1 victory over the Suns.
Wyatt Heat had 10 runs on 12 hits and one error, while the Suns had one run on two hits with two errors. The winning pitcher was Kennedy Fiest, while Dale Harris took the loss for the Suns. Top hitters for Wyatt Heat were Dexter Desousa and Andre Ponce, 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs apiece, and Spencer Hendrickson, 1 for 2 with a home run and one RBI. For the Suns, Leandro Reyes went 1 for 2 with a home run and one RBI.
In game two, Softball inc., who have already served notice that they will be a force to be reckoned with in this year’s league, blasted perennial powerhouse Cartel 18-8. Softball Inc. had 18 runs on 14 hits with two errors, while the Cartel had eight runs on 10 hits with six errors. Timothy Nelson picked up the win on the mound for Softball inc., while James Smith took the loss for the Cartel.
Top hitters for Softball Inc. were Tim Gillespie, 2 for 4 with two home runs and five RBIs; Aaron Smith, 2 for 3 with two RBIs; and James Reeves, 2 for 3 with one RBI. For the Cartel, Eddie Dunkirk went 3 for 3 with three home runs and six RBIs, while Smith went 1 for 2 with one RBI.
In the nightcap, Cross Tech edged Master Batters 9-8. Cross Tech scored nine runs on 13 hits with four errors, while Master Batters plated eight runs on 13 hits and committed three errors. The winning pitcher was Bill Harris, with Jeff Crone getting the loss for Master Batters. For Cross Tech, Neal Davis went 3 for 4 with a grand-slam home run and four RBIs, while Carlos Sanabria went 3 for 3 with one RBI. For Master Batters, Raymond Cintron went 3 for 4 with one RBI and Dana Hanning went 2 for 4 with one RBI.
