VITEMA Hosting Hurricane Preparedness Fair on St. John

Sept. 6, 2007 – The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) invites the public to attend a Hurricane Preparedness Fair to be held on St. John. It will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Frank Powell Park in Cruz Bay.
The fair is an opportunity for islanders to gather comprehensive disaster related information. "There are many agencies and businesses that play a part in disaster preparedness, according to a press release from Alvis Christian, deputy director for St. John operations. "Bringing everyone together in one place makes it easier for the community to learn about the resources that are available to them, and incorporate this information into their own emergency plans," he said.
A variety of agencies are expected to participate, including Fire, Police, the National Park Service, American Red Cross and the Department of Public Works. For more information on the fair, contact VITEMA at 776-6444.
