Sunny Weather Around Corner After Days of Rain

Aug. 7, 2007 — Look for better weather Wednesday, said Rafael Mojica, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in San Juan.
"The moist air is supposed to start moving to the west-northwest tonight," he said Tuesday.
Rain began falling Sunday afternoon around the territory thanks to a tropical wave passing through. It’s gone now, but an upper level low north of the Virgin Islands was bringing moisture to the entire northern Caribbean area, Mojica said.
"It's been on and off," he said.
The amount of rain that fell depended on location, with some places getting much more than others Mojica said. On St. Croix, 0.38 inches of rain fell at Cotton Valley between midnight and 5 p.m. Tuesday, he said. St. Thomas got two inches of rain Monday, but only one to two inches fell Tuesday, Mojica said.
"The highest rainfall was this morning," he said.
At Weather Station Zephyr in Coral Bay, 0.57 inches of rain fell between midnight and 5 p.m. Tuesday.
