World Music Under the Stars to Feature Folk and Bluegrass

July 31, 2007 – St. Croix Landmarks Society presents a new outdoor concert series, World Music Under The Stars, which features professional musicians from around the country performing cultural music from around the world. The next concert in this series is Traditions of Bluegrass and will highlight American, Irish and Scottish folk and bluegrass music. Becky Hall (fiddle and voice), Jerome Hall (mandolin and guitar) and Marc Thayer (fiddle) will be performing at 7:30 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 4, at the Whim Plantation Museum. Proceeds from this concert series go to preserving the history, culture and genealogy of the people of St. Croix.
Gates will open at 6 p.m. for a picnic dinner. Bring your own food and drink or purchase southern chicken platters from Shenanigans and drinks from a cash bar on site. Turtle's Deli will also provide salads, sandwiches, gourmet bread, fruit and cheese baskets with advance orders at the time of reservations. Ticket prices are $25 for orchestra seats and tables. Lawn seating is available for $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. Individuals who elect to sit on the lawn should bring chairs or picnic blankets.
The next World Music Concert will be held on Sept. 8, and will feature the Sounds of the Bahamas, traditional Bahamian folk music.
