Senator Saddened by Death of Alvin Morton

July 31, 2007 – This weekend a tragic murder occurred that took from these islands a very dedicated and competent individual.
Alvin Morton was my good friend and the mainstay of many of my senate campaigns. He was invaluable in getting me elected to my first term in the 18th Legislature and worked diligently in my office for almost 10 years. When he was promoted to Director of Facilities Management, he turned that division into a professional body that improved the look of the Senate building and grounds a hundred percent.
One thing everyone could say about Alvin Morton: If you gave him a task to do, you could be absolutely certain it would be done and done in the most impressive way imaginable. He often spoke his mind and stuck to his ground, but he always got the job done.
A good man has been taken from us. Alvin didn't deserve the fate he received. However angry we are at what happened to him, we can still be grateful for the immense talents that he leant to us during his stay on earth.
Rest in peace, Alvin Morton. We will always remember you.
