Brief: Abandoned Car Cleanup Set for Soto Town Wednesday

July 16, 2007 — Water Island Administrator Barbara Petersen will lead the multi-agency Abandoned Car Task Force into the winding roadways of Soto Town on Wednesday, according to a Government House news release.
The task force will be in the area from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. to stage a cleanup of abandoned, derelict cars that have littered the roads in the community for some time. Petersen appealed to vehicle owners who routinely park their cars on the roadsides to remove those vehicles by 8 a.m. Wednesday to allow the task force to carry out the cleanup initiative.
“If the vehicles are not removed, the heavy equipment and other apparatus used in the cleanup cannot be staged properly,” she said, according to the release. “We are asking for the community’s assistance to get Soto Town cleaned up.”
Motorists are also asked to avoid the area during the hours of the cleanup, since the targeted community has limited space in which to maneuver. For more information, call Petersen at 774-0001, ext. 4342.
