June 16, 2007 – This year, through the generosity of a donor who is particularly interested in fatherhood issues, CFVI is once again offering free "fatherhood" T-shirts to all interested fathers. The T-shirts, which are printed with "Ten Tips for Fathers," are available at the Foundation's office in Royal Dane Mall. Individuals who would like to give their fathers a T-shirt this Father's Day are also welcome to come to the foundation and pick one up. For details, call the CFVI at 774-6031.
Since 1997 the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands (CFVI) has worked to foster increased recognition of the importance of responsible fatherhood in the lives of children, youth and families in the U.S. Virgin Islands. In a variety of ways, the Foundation has focused on issues related to fatherhood and has provided support and leadership to fatherhood groups throughout the territory. Some of CFVI's past initiatives have included sponsoring a "Fathers' Night Out" in the month of June, when men come together for an evening to discuss the importance of fatherhood; hosting visits to the U.S.V.I. from nationally known speakers on fatherhood, and providing support and discussion materials to a variety of fatherhood groups throughout the territory.
