June 6, 2007 — A U.S. Coast Guard crew rescued a father and his teenage sons Wednesday after their 45-foot power boat capsized off Christiansted Harbor, according to a Coast Guard news release.
Bruce Robinson, 51, was accompanied by his two sons Blake Robinson, 18, and Tyler Robinson, 17, when they were rescued by the crew of a Coast Guard 25-foot response boat from St. Croix, the news release said. The crew located them approximately four nautical miles north of Christiansted Harbor at 11 a.m. sitting on the sinking hull of their overturned boat.
Coast Guard controllers in San Juan first received a Mayday distress call at approximately 9:51 a.m., the news release said. They launched an HH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Borinquen, Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, and recalled the 25-foot response boat crew from St. Croix to search for the boaters.
All three boaters were found to be in good health and were transported back to Christiansted Harbor aboard the 25-foot response boat, the news release said.
