CBC Father's Day Fishing Tournament Coming up Saturday

June 4, 2007 — The Committee for the Betterment of Carenage (CBC) has set Sunday as the date for its annual pre-Father’s Day fishing tournament in Frenchtown. The event is a prelude to the three-day weekend celebration, June 15-17.
A top prize of $2,000 cash will be awarded to the angler who catches the largest qualifying fish, according to a news release from CBC.
“The top prize will be awarded by CBC and Offshore Marine, which each year joint ventures with the committee to underwrite the top prize,” said Gail Joseph, chairwoman of the tournament.
There are other prize categories to be awarded, including the angler with the most fish, the angler with the most fish by weight, the best captain (total boat weight), the most unusual fish and the youngest angler with fish by weight. Qualifying fish include dolphin, kingfish, horse-eye, amberjack, bonito, tuna, mackerel and barracuda.
Registration takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday near the concession stand at the Joseph Aubain Ball Park in Frenchtown. There is a $25 registration fee per angler.
