DeJongh Proclaims Medical Services Week

May 19, 2007 – Governor John P. deJongh Jr. has proclaimed Medical Services Week in the United States Virgin Islands. Emergency Medical Services technicians and team members provide a vital public service by providing life-saving care 24 hours a day, every day of the week throughout the U.S.V.I. and the nation. Prompt access to quality emergency care dramatically increases the survival and recovery rates of those who suffer sudden illnesses or injuries.
The EMS system is comprised of physicians, nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, firefighters, educators, administrators, operators, volunteers and others.
The members of EMS teams, both career and volunteer, have engaged in many hours of specialized training and education to enhance their life-saving skills for the benefit of our citizens.
It is appropriate to recognize the value and accomplishments of EMS providers by publicly acknowledging Emergency Medical Services Week, according to a press release from Government House.
