Gomez Elementary to Host Asthma Fair

May 2, 2007 – Joseph Gomez Elementary School will host an Asthma Fair that will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 10, in observance of National Asthma Awareness Month.
"Asthma is the most serious common chronic childhood disease," said Principal Frieda Farrow. "Asthma accounts for one-third of all pediatric emergency room visits and is the leading cause of school absenteeism in elementary schools across this nation. The Joseph Gomez Elementary School has a high population of students afflicted with this condition, and in an effort to raise the public awareness of the risks faced every day by children living with asthma, the faculty staff and students of the Joseph Gomez Elementary are hosting this event."
She added, "We look forward to enlightening and informative presentations and encourage members of the community to attend the Fair and support those persons who are daily suffering from this chronic disease."
