Permits will be issued to solid waste and wastewater haulers who use the territory's landfills and treatment plants. Applications can be picked up from the V.I. Waste Management Authority's Office of Compliance within both districts at the Department of Public Works, according to a press release from the VIWMA.
All companies, including government agencies, that utilize the landfills or wastewater treatment plants for disposal are required to have a solid waste collection and disposal permit or a septage disposal permit.
To obtain a waste hauler's permit, the following must be presented at the time of submitting the application:

* Current business license
* Proof of liability insurance
• VIPD Inspection Report, if applicable
An appointment will be given for vehicle inspections after review of the permit application. Vehicles must successfully pass an inspection; the following shall be assessed:

Tools (tarpaulin, rake/shovel/broom, and scones/reflector lights)
Effective May 15, citations will be issued to waste haulers without a valid permit. All waste haulers' vehicles will display a VIWMA blue decal to access to the landfills and/or wastewater treatment facilities.
