Brief: Scheduled Power Outage Moved to Early Morning

March 25, 2007 — A scheduled power outage for parts of St. Croix has been rescheduled from this afternoon to overnight, according to a news release from the V.I. Water and Power Authority (WAPA).
For electric customers on feeders 8, 9, and 10, the outage originally scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. today has been rescheduled for 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday. The outage will allow WAPA "to perform preventive maintenance work on equipment in the 24.9kV substation, which will result in greater service reliability," the news release said. The agency changed the scheduled time "in an effort to be responsive to urgent requests from the St. Croix community."
Feeder 8 includes Henry Rohlsen Airport, Enfield Green, Sunshine Mall, Campo Rico, Estate Carlton, Hannah's Rest, LaGrange, Frederiksted Town and surrounding areas. Feeder 9 includes Clifton Hill, Adventure, St. George, Castle Burke, Lower Love, University of the Virgin Islands, Kingshill,
Orange Grove, Peter's Rest and surrounding areas. Feeder 10 includes Carambola, Grove Place, Mahogany Road, Estate St. John, LaGrande Princesse and surrounding areas.
"The authority appreciates the patience and understanding of its customers
during this service-enhancement effort," the news release said.
