USVI-PTSA Congress Solicits Conference Proposals
March 23, 2007 – The 2007 Convention of the U.S. Virgin Islands Parent Teacher Student Association (USVI-PTSA) Inc. has been scheduled for Friday and Saturday, June 1-2, at the Wyndham Sugar Bay Resort & Spa. The organization is currently soliciting conference proposals for the sixth annual convention that touts the theme "Engaging Families through Community Partnerships."
"The convention is always open to public participation, and we encourage all stakeholders in education to register as a presenter or participant and to take advantage of this opportunity to contribute and receive vital information about how PTAs and PTSAs can benefit our schools and community," said Margarita Greenidge-Benjamin, USVI-PTSA president.
The deadline for submission is Friday, April 6. Presentation proposal forms are available at the V.I. Department of Education Web site: www.doe.vi and can be submitted via e-mail to usvi_pres@pta.org or via mail or by fax to: ATTENTION: Workshop Presentation Proposals, USVI PTSA, P.O. Box 306632, St. Thomas, VI 00803. Facsimile: 774-8106, according to a press release from the Education Department.
"Each proposal will be reviewed as an application to present. Presenters will be notified of selection by Friday, April 13. The first named (primary) presenter will receive notification and will be responsible for notifying co-presenters. Presentations should be no more than one hour in length and will run concurrently with other sessions.
"Priority will be given to proposals embodying this year's theme and to proposals with content consistent to the required content strands. Proposals featuring programs with proven effectiveness and a strong evaluation component are preferred. To enhance the total benefit of the conference to parents and schools, we encourage proposals that reflect collaboration with local school districts and community partners," said Greenidge-Benjamin.
