Supporting an Amendment to Repeal Act 6905

Senator Nelson said he will be introducing an amendment to law that sets up a “public officials compensation commission”. This amendment does not address the issue of repealing act 6905. Quoted from the Source, “Nelson said he recently tried to sponsor legislation to repeal the law but found his self pre-empted–meaning that another senator had already put in a similar bill request.”
Since Senator Nelson is willing to amend the law why not amend the law repealing act 6905 to begin with? We do not want or need apologizes! We need action on our demands! All we ask the 27th Legislature to do is repeal act 6905, return the laws to the senators to do “due diligence” on behalf of the people of the Virgin Islands.
Since Senators; Nelson, White and Richards have attempted to remove the law those three should request an amendment be drafted in preparation of the upcoming session and use their political influence to get the support of the other senators.
In the meantime the residents of the Virgin Islands need to attend the session scheduled to begin Tuesday, March 20, 2007. Call, fax and email every senator to support the amendment to repeal act 6905.
Also fax, call and email Senators; Nelson, White and Richards to sponsor the amendment to repeal act 6905. If the senators are really serious about representing you and me they will repeal act 6905 on behalf of the people of the Virgin Islands!
Senators, do the right thing, appeal act 6905. The time the 27th legislature spent holding their breathe to see if the recall was going to be successful they could have called a special session to repeal act 6905 and saved their “hides”. Imagine, “The St. Croix Four’s” response to the recall, “Now, we can get to work.” You mean they have not worked since they were sworn-in in January? “The St. Croix Four” should not collect compensation since they admitted they weren’t working! Shame on them!
