Special Education to Hold Parent Empowerment Workshops

March 16, 2007 – Special Education, in collaboration with Virgin Islands Family Information Network on Disabilities (VI FIND) and the Virgin Islands Center for Excellence on Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD), will host its monthly Parent Empowerment Workshops. They will be held from 6-8 p.m., on Thursday, March 22, at Gertrude's Restaurant on St. Croix and at the Education Curriculum Center, Estate Tutu, on St. Thomas, according to a press release from the State Director of Special Education Carrie Johns. The topic of the workshop is "Becoming a Better Advocate – Age of Majority and Dispute Resolution."
"This month's meeting is especially for our male parents. Therefore, we encourage and welcome the participation of the men in our community at this special meeting," said Johns.
