Brief: Easter Bonnet Parade Returns at New Location

March 10, 2007 — The Humane Society of St. Thomas will bring the Easter Bonnet Parade back to St. Thomas April 8 at a new location, the Oceana Restaurant and Wine Bar.
For many years the gala was held at Blackbeard’s Castle. Easter brunch at Oceana will be served from noon – 2 p.m., with live entertainment by Freddie Rabuse, according to a news release from the humane society. "Dress up in your your finest Easter bonnet 'with all the frills upon it' and enter the Easter Parade at 2:30 p.m.," the news release said. Registration will be held from noon to 1 p.m. for all contestants.
First, second and third place prizes will be given out for the winners in the following categories: originality, humor and glamor. There will also be an originality category with prizes for children 12 and under.
Oceana is now accepting reservations for this elegant three-course brunch, which includes a complimentary mimosa, the news release said. Seating is limited to 130, so anyone interested in attending should call 774-4262 as soon as possible for reservations. The brunch will cost $55 plus 20-percent gratuity.
"Guests will enjoy walking through the Easter Basket, Orchid Lanes and Art Alley, where you will be able to purchase or bid on a variety of beautiful Easter baskets, Easter flowers and original local art," the news release said. "Raffle prizes and a day filled with fun and excitement await you. In addition, members of the community will be presenting checks to the Paws to Care Campaign for the new Animal Care Campus."
Guests not participating in the brunch will be asked for a $5 donation, which will allow them to enter the raffle drawing.
