New Hyundai East End Sprint Course Described

Feb. 27, 2007 – The 2007 edition of the Hyundai East End Sprint Triathlon will feature new swim and bike courses. These small changes are being made to enhance safety. The transition area will remain at Divi Carina Bay Resort.
The new half-mile swim course will feature two laps of a triangular course, and swimmers will both start and finish in the same spot. Try-A-Tri athletes will complete one lap. The 13-mile bike course will be a counterclockwise loop of the east end of St. Croix and will pass the entrance road to Cramers Park, continue on the North Shore until Southgate, where the riders will go straight past Tipperary, and return to Divi on the South Shore road. The 3-mile run course remains unchanged and will go eastward from Divi to the entrance road to Cramers Park and return.
The 6-mile Try-A-Tri bike route will head west to the bottom of Mt. Fancy and will turnaround and return. The run will head east for ¾ of a mile and return.
Registration and late entry will be open from 6-6:45 a.m., and the race will begin at 7 a.m., Sunday, March 4, at the Divi Carina Bay Resort. Applications can be picked up beforehand at GNC/Endurance Sports or downloaded from www.stcroixtriathlon.com.
Kayak volunteers are still needed and anyone interested can call 773-8456.
