St. Croix Rescue Looking for Good People

Feb. 24, 2007 – Do you have a desire to help your community? Do you have a yearning for adventure that's not being fulfilled? St. Croix Rescue Squad may be the place for you.
St. Croix Rescue is currently accepting applications for Recruit Class 2007-1. Applications are available at the Rescue Academy at Five Corners and the office at Richmond. They are also available in the download section of the Rescue Web site at www.stxrescue.com, and will be accepted until March 9.
Becoming a member of St. Croix Rescue provides personal and professional development, enhances one's employment opportunities, provides travel opportunities and, most importantly, gives an individual the chance to serve the community in ways few other organizations can. Being a part of St. Croix Rescue means you are saving lives.
Training courses include Emergency Medical Care (Medical First Responder, Advanced EMT, First Aid and CPR), Marine Rescue and Water Safety, Vehicle Extrication, High Angle Rescue, Emergency Management and Hazardous Material Awareness and Search and Rescue.
St. Croix Rescue is a volunteer organization; however, recruits must:
1. Be 18 years or older
2. Have a high school diploma or equivalent
3. Not have a criminal record
4. Have valid VI driver's license
5. Have good traffic record
6. Be of good physical and mental health
The cost of training is $300, payable in two installments. This fee covers the costs of books and a Class B uniform.
Allowances have been made for mature, responsible teenagers, 16 and 17 years old, to join recruit classes. Call the St. Croix Rescue Academy if you would like to be interviewed for the training. Interviews will be conducted March 12 through March 16, and orientation and classes will begin on March 19. The St. Croix Rescue Academy is located at Five Corners.
For more information, call St. Croix Rescue at 692-9400 or St. Croix Rescue Training Academy at 719-6358 or Vincent Joseph, training supervisor, at 771-4492.
