Dear Source:
The effort to recall the St Croix senators is a wonderful example of the freedoms we enjoy…. I take issue however with placing responsibility for this issue on the shoulders of our new Governor, or trying to make him complicit in the Omnibus Bill when he has been in office for less than two months. I hope that those responsible for the recall effort will have the energy and persistence to use their voices to help the Governor take on some of the urgent priorities in our communities: crime, poverty, improving public education and apathy.
I think the Governor understands the larger issues and personally I want him to continue to be focused in that direction. I could be wrong, but it seems to me that long after the offending senators are gone, the aforementioned challenges will affect the daily lives of Virgin Islanders.
The mention of the Governor attending funerals shows an insensitivity to the families who lost loved ones and is an insult to the men who gave their lives to defend our freedom to write letters to the editor.
