VIPD Issues Wanted Poster for Suspect in Officer's Murder

Feb. 9, 2007 — The V.I. Police Department has issued a wanted poster of the 24-year-old suspect being sought in connection with the shooting death of V.I. Police Officer Ariel Frett, which occurred Thursday afternoon in the Hospital Ground area.
The suspect, Jermaine Paris of Prindsens Gade on St. Thomas, is considered armed and dangerous. In a release from the department, Paris is described as a black male with a light complexion. According to the wanted poster, Paris was born on St. Kitts on Jan. 8, 1983.
According to the authorities, Paris is the third person believed to be involved in the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. Another “person of interest” is a 16-year-old, who remains hospitalized at Schneider Regional Medical Center, having undergone emergency surgery on Thursday for several gunshot injuries. Acting Police Commissioner James McCall said Friday that investigators have not yet been able to speak with the minor due to his medical condition.
McCall requested that anyone with information on the the fatal shooting contact the Major Crime Unit at 715-5534 or emergency 911.
