Brief: Christensen Called on to Chair Homeland Security Committee

Feb. 7, 2007 — Delegate Donna M. Christensen temporarily assumed the chair of the Committee on Homeland Security Wednesday as she filled in for her Democratic colleagues who left for a floor vote, according to a release from Christensen's office.
The committee, normally chaired by Congressman Benny Thompson, was in the midst of a hearing on the issues and challenges facing the Department on Homeland Security.
Testifying at the time was David Walker, comptroller general of the United States, and Richard L. Skinner, inspector general of the Department of Homeland Security.
About Wednesday's experience, Christensen said, "It was good practice as I prepare to chair the Insular Affairs Subcommittee."
