Feb. 6, 2007 — David Lladró, of the famed Spanish family of porcelain artists, will be at St. Thomas' Crystal Shoppe on Feb. 13 to personally sign pieces of his art for area customers.
He is coming here from Valencia, Spain, where his family produces its world-famous porcelain figurines and sculptures, said Selwyn Puig, Crystal Shoppe owner.
Puig added that Lladró is the son of Vicente Lladró, who perfected a special process for creating porcelain figurines and sculptures in 1955. Said Puig, "Lladró pieces are now collected worldwide, so it is a real coup for St. Thomas to have a member of this famous family come here in person."
Signing times are from 10 a.m. to noon and 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
