Couples Can Renew Vows at Valentine's Day Ceremony

Feb. 5, 2007 — Say "I do" again on Valentine's Day at the fifth annual celebration of love at Trunk Bay Beach on St. John, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 14.
"It's an opportunity (for couples) to celebrate their relationship in a meaningful way," said non-denominational Minister Anne Marie Porter.
The vow-renewal ceremony provides an opportunity for couples to forgive old hurts and begin their relationship anew. The event includes complimentary roses for the women, flute music by Michael Banzhaf and a ceremony by Porter, a minister who specializes in weddings and vow renewals.
There is no charge to participate.
A complimentary taxi will meet the ferry that leaves Red Hook for Cruz Bay at 4 p.m. Look for the taxi with the red and white balloons. Last year, 54 couples renewed their marriage vows, representing 1116 years of marriage.
The event got its start in 2003 when Porter and Cathy Dove organized the event. A total of 70 couples turned out. In 2004, 65 couples attended, and in 2005, 63 couples renewed their vows despite a rainstorm.
For more information, call Dove at 715-0101 or 693-5578, or Porter at 693-5153.
