UVICELL To Host OSHA Conference for V.I. Employers

Feb. 2, 2007 – The Second Annual Governor's Occupational Safety and Health Conference will provide information on improving the safety and health conditions of public and private workplaces. It will be held Feb. 12-16, at the Marriott's Frenchman's Reef Resort. The conference will provide employers with strategies for reducing workers compensation costs.
Expert instructors from the U.S. Labor Department's OSHA office will address a variety of topics, such as laboratory safety, the Incident Command System and a host of training sessions devoted to safety issues for specific industries. Safety representatives from the University of the Virgin Islands' Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning Center's Safety in Paradise Program will also be on-hand to provide consultation to interested small businesses.
The conference is being sponsored by the U.S. Labor Department's OSHA. There is no charge for the conference; however, seating is limited and pre-registration is encouraged. For the conference schedule or to register, call the UVICELL Center at 693-1100.
The UVICELL Safety in Paradise Program provides assistance to small businesses by helping them establish and maintain safe and healthy workplaces. The free, confidential service is primarily funded through the OSHA and is independent of federal or local OSHA enforcement.
