Brief: Delegate Joins Fellow Democrats at Annual Retreat

Feb. 2, 2007 — After attending funeral services for fallen soldier and friend, Lt. Col. David C. Canegata, Delegate Donna M. Christensen traveled to Williamsburg, Va., to join her colleagues in the Democratic Caucus at their annual retreat, according to a release from Christensen's office.
Speakers at this year's event include new governors Elliot Spitzer of New York and Deval Patrick of Massachusetts, as well as former President Bill Clinton, who spoke at Thursday's dinner.
President George W. Bush will address the caucus on Saturday morning, the first time the president of the opposing party has addressed the other party's caucus.
"I am looking forward to my first retreat as a member of the majority and in a position of leadership, I regret that I missed what I understand was an outstanding discussion with President Clinton," she said. "I look forward to the historic one with the current president."
Christensen will return to the territory to attend the funeral service for Sgt. Floyd Lake on St. Thomas before returning to Washington for a very busy week of activities.
