Baggage Handling and the Ferry Service Are Awful!

Dear Source:
With regard to the Complaints regarding the Ferry Service from Red Hook to Cruz Bay, The Senator and the Gentleman from Colorado's experience is not only typical, but has become worse and worse with every day. The porters are rude, intimidating, and unpleasant to the point of incredulity. 5 years ago, the situation was kind of a cool adventure, and the service pleasant. 4 years ago, we noticed the surliness and demeanor of the crew was very different. 3 years ago we said, "never again", and rented our vehicle on St Thomas after that. We still did a day trip the next year, and the things I saw made me glad for my decision. Baggage thrown on the docks like garbage in a big pile for people to dig through, hands out-stretched at every stop. Not a smile or a "Good Morning" from anyone. A "take it or leave it" vibe. Very unpleasant. None was behaving "uncooperatively."
There is a very easy solution. There are a number of private Water Taxi Operators that run great operations. Maybe Mr. Augustus should watch one load or unload at the National Park Service Dock, and then take a stroll over to the Ferry Dock, and watch one of his boats come in or go out. He probably would then take the report by the two gentlemen a little more seriously. I sent one to pick up 13 guests this summer, and all I can say is "that is how you run a ferry service!"
