UVI-CELL to Host Business After Hours July 13 and 20
The University of the Virgin Islands' Community Engagement and Lifelong Learning (UVI-CELL) Center will host the next Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours events. The event will be held today (July 13) from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at the UVI-CELL Center on the St. Thomas campus. On St. Croix, the event is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 20, at the Twin City Coffee House in Christiansted. The After-Hours events will serve as the official kick-off for UVI-CELL's new online program offerings. The Center's initiatives and plans for the community will also be showcased. UVI to Host Constitution 2008 Press Conference
The University of the Virgin Islands is set to launch a public education program to support the Fifth Virgin Islands Constitutional Convention, which will open in July 2007. UVI President LaVerne E. Ragster, Ph.D., will discuss plans for the public education program at a press conference to be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 21, in the VIP room of the Sports and Fitness Center on the University's St. Thomas Campus. Astronaut Who Visited UVI in 2002 Working Aboard Space Shuttle
NASA fans in the UVI Community may be hearing a familiar name when watching daily news coverage of the current space shuttle Discovery mission to the International Space Station. Discovery Mission Specialist Stephanie Wilson, who's been busy in recent days running the craft's robot arm for her space walking associates, visited UVI in November of 2002 for a NASA Awareness Days program. During the three-day event, Wilson and other NASA officials met with thousands of local students in an effort to encourage the study of science and mathematics. Online Registration for Fall Semester 2006 Continues through August 7
Online registration is available through August 7 for continuing UVI students who wish to register for fall semester 2006 classes. Links to fall semester classes and detailed registration information are available from the UVI web site – www.uvi.edu – and from this direct link: Academics as UVI.
Summer Science Programs to Conclude with Poster, Certificate Presentations
More than 50 students involved in summer science programs at the University of the Virgin Islands will receive certificates during an official closing ceremony and research presentation scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 27. The general public, family and friends are invited to the session which is scheduled at the Dining Pavilion on UVI's St. Thomas campus. Participants include Virgin Islands high school students enrolled in the Summer Science Enrichment Academy, UVI science and mathematics undergraduates conducting research projects on St. Thomas and St. Croix and students involved in the Summer Bridge2Calculus enrichment program. Institutional Research and Planning Posts 2005-06 Fact Book on Web
The Office of Institutional Research and Planning has announced that UVI's online Fact Book for 2005-2006 has been posted at the Institutional Research Web site at this direct link. The Fact Book provides a concise look at all aspects of the University, including enrollment, admissions, SAT scores, course enrollment, faculty characteristics, facilities and more.
