June 2, 2006 – The V.I. Water & Power Authority is testing and resealing electric meters in an ongoing effort to improve efficiency, and reduce loss and theft.
The resealing on the East End is complete and technicians are moving mid-island, according to a release from WAPA.
Technicians will test meters on site. Accurately working meters will be resealed with a red tag indicating that the meter has been recalibrated. Faulty meters will be replaced and then tagged. Meter recalibration is required every five to 10 years.
The Authority reminds customers that all meters should be in an accessible and safe area. Resealing technicians and other WAPA personnel can be identified by their uniforms, employee badges and company vehicles.
Customers are urged to cooperate with access to meters.
Customers in the areas from the East End to Estate Hermon Hill who find no red tag on their meters should contact the customer service office to make an appointment
