Suspected Vandalism Disrupts Island Phone Service

May 19, 2006 – Telephone service in several areas on St. Croix has been disrupted as eight cross-connect boxes were damaged in suspected acts of vandalism.
Innovative Telephone President David L. Sharp said in a press release Friday that crews have been mobilized to address the situation.
"Sometime between late last night and early this morning Innovative Telephone cross-connect boxes were vandalized by an unknown person or persons," Sharp said in the release.
A $10,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest for the destruction, Sharp said.
Areas where service may be affected include University of the Virgin Islands, Lower Love; Castle Burke/New Works/Golden Grove; Central High School; Estate La Reine; Constitution Hill and Peter's Rest; Gallows Bay; Southgate; Concordia; and surrounding areas.
Affected customers are asked to call the 912 repair line to report an outage.
