Alert: Watch for Water Interruptions and Detours

April 5, 2005 – V.I. Water and Power Authority water customers will experience some service interruptions and motorists may be rerouted over the next few days, while work is being done on two sections of the system.
On Thursday, service will be interrupted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. to disconnect an old distribution system pipeline next to the Holiday Inn Windward Passage Hotel on St. Thomas, according to WAPA spokeswoman Cassandra Dunn. During this period, customers connected to the distribution system between Emile Griffith Park and General Gade on the Waterfront will be out of service. Nye Tver Gade (the one way road that goes from Lower Main Street to the Waterfront east of the hotel) will be closed to vehicular traffic.
From 7 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday, water crews will repair a ruptured main line on St. Thomas' Veteran's Drive at Guttets Gade (the First Bank/Pizza Hut intersection). While there is no water interruption anticipated, westbound and eastbound traffic on Veteran's Drive will be rerouted during the repairs.
