V.I. Students Compete in Annual History Bowl

March 16, 2006 – The Fourth Annual Virgin Islands History, Civics, Geography, Juvenile Rights, and Character Enhancement Bowl will take place March 21-22 and 27. The competition is sponsored by a partnership of the Territorial Office of the Public Defender, the Law Enforcement Planning Commission and the V.I. Department of Education.
Competitors of the Bowl will comprise of 45 teams (approximately 250 students) from the public, private and parochial elementary, middle/junior and senior high schools across the territory. The three-day competition begins with a first round on Tuesday, March 21, at the Bertha C. Boschulte School on St. Thomas, and the second round on Wednesday, March 22, at the St. Croix Educational Complex. The Territorial Championship will take place on Monday, March 27, at the Palms Court Harborview Hotel on St. Thomas. All competitions begin promptly at 3:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will immediately follow the territorial competition.
During the course of the competition, the teams will be asked to provide answers to questions relative to the United States Virgin Islands in the areas of history, civics, geography, and juvenile rights. The competition is sponsored by a partnership of the Territorial Office of the Public Defender, the Law Enforcement Planning Commission and the V.I. Department of Education.
