DPNR Holds Public Hearings on New Flood Maps

March 14, 2006 – The Department of Planning and Natural Resources invites all interested persons to a series of public hearings to discuss the new Flood Insurance Study (FIS) report, the Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM), the new digital mapping system and other pertinent issues that may affect flood insurance coverage or opportunities to acquire loans from lending institutions.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) along with DPNR is currently reviewing the flood zone areas throughout the territory and greatly encourages all interested persons to partake in these meetings. The public hearings are scheduled as follows:
St. Croix (Florence Williams Library, Christiansted)
Thursday, March 23
1 p.m. Private Sector
Pearl B. Larsen Elementary School
6 p.m. Public Sector
Alexander Henderson Elementary School, Frederiksted
Friday, March 24
6 p.m. Public Sector
