What's Next on the Doug Lewis Show

Feb. 21, 2006 – Tune into the Doug Lewis Show on WVGN 107.3 FM this Sunday, Feb. 26, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. This Sunday you will be entertained by the soundtrack from the movie "Walk the Line," Jamie Harford, Cindy Mangsen, Billy Boy Arnold and much more.
The Modern Music Feature CD is the soundtrack from the movie "Walk the Line". The performances on the disc come from the actors in the film as opposed to using the vocals of Johnny and June Carter Cash. Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon give fine performances and sing the songs with feeling, staying faithful to the original arrangements.
The Indie Spotlight CD is "Part of Your History" by Jamie Hartford. Jamie is the son of the late, great John Hartford. The CD is a tribute to John Hartford featuring Jamie and some of his friends performing some of John Hartford's most loved songs. Among the friends are such luminaries as Kathy Mattea, Tim O'Brien, Nanci Griffith and Bela Fleck. We feature music from Ruthie Foster, who will be appearing in concert at Tillett Gardens on March1, and music from Last Train Home, who visit the Virgin Islands with their first gig on Feb. 22.
We will feature music from the Billy Gibson Band, who will be playing at the 2007 St. John Blues Festival.
We celebrate the birthdays of Bob "the Bear" Hite of Canned Heat, Johnny Cash, Fats Domino, and Paul Cotton of Poco.
We will play new music from bluesman Billy Boy Arnold, Mike Gordon and Leo Kottke, Hot Club of Cowtown, local St. Croix artist David James, Lynn Miles, Cindy Mangsen and others.
We also include music from blues artist Sista Monica Parker, Charlie Musselwhite, Christine Kane, Will Taylor and Strings Attached, and more.
Tune in for a chance to win a solo CD from Steppenwolf frontman John Kay, and a great compilation, "The Great Tomato Singer Songwriter Collection," which includes contributions from Hank Williams, Townes Van Zandt, Johnny Cash and others.
Doug Lewis Show is underwritten by Hook, Line and Sinker, Molly Molones, and Steve Simon and the St. John Blues Festival.
