Memorial Service for Journalist Hal Hatfield Planned for March 5

Feb. 13, 2006 – A memorial for journalist Hal Hatfield will be held at 4 p.m. March 5 at the Magens Bay arboretum. Please enter the arboretum at the far western end of the beach. The service is slated to being promptly at 4, so it is suggested anyone attending please plan accordingly.
Hatfield's death on Feb. 3 in Knoxville, Iowa came as a shock to his many friends and colleagues on St. Thomas. He was an integral part of the community's journalistic and political life for close to three decades. Several friends have put their heads together to plan the event.
His brothers, Dick and Larry, and his son, Jeff, will be here for the memorial. Anyone wishing to say farewell to Hatfield is welcome to attend.
A gettogether with food and drink is planned for after the service at another location.
