Police Identify Murder Victim

Jan. 23, 2006 – Police have identified the victim in the territory's second homicide this year as 13-year-old Aheem Hughes. Hughes was a ninth-grader at Charlotte Amalie High School.
According to information made available by police late Sunday night, Hughes suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and a stab wound to the chest. An unidentified assailant attacked him in his mother's Hospital Ground home early Sunday morning while his younger siblings slept.
Police sources said Sunday night "a man dressed in a white shirt, white hat and blue jeans was seen leaving the apartment where the boy's mother lives just around the time the shooting was called into the 911 dispatch center."
Police still have no motive for the killing, the second in four days on St. Thomas. Anyone with information should call police homicide detectives at either 774-2211, or call 911.
