Two VIWMA Sites are Temporarily Closed

Jan. 17, 2006 – According to a press release from the Virgin Islands Waste Management Authority, two Do-it-Yourself (DIY) used oil collection sites will be closed to the public until further notice. Residents are asked to not place containers of used motor and cooking oil at these closed sites.

St. Thomas: Bovoni Landfill
St. Croix: Concordia
These VIWMA sites are for the use of residents who change the motor oil in their cars, lawn motors, boats and other motorized equipment. Transmission fluid, freon and other fluids are not accepted at the DIY sites. Residents may bring up to five gallons per month per person to the sites located in the following areas:
St. Croix……Public Works Compound, Anna's Hope…… 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
St. Thomas:……Public Works Motor Pool, Sub-base…… 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Wednesday and Friday
St. John……Susannaberg Transfer Station…… 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
