Omega Offers Free Workshops on St. John

Jan. 13, 2006 – The public is invited to attend free workshops put on by Omega Institute lecturers on St. John for the annual winter seminar.
The workshops will be held at the St. John School of the Arts classroom at the Lumberyard Shopping Complex. It is located to the right of the Polli's Restaurant entrance. All begin at 7:30 p.m.
The series kicks off Jan. 16 with Roger Jahnke, who wrote "The Healing Promise of QI" and "The Healer Within." He is a physician of Chinese medicine and the director of Qigong and Tai Chai training at the Santa Barbara College of Oriental Medicine.
Viki Brown, who is helping to organize the free workshops, said Jahnke teaches people how to become an alchemist for their own body.
On Jan. 23, Alan Lowen will show participants how to use everyday life experiences to learn to love their life.
Lowen is a tantric psychotherapist who helps people integrate the energies of sex, birth, love, living, and dying. He is the author of a CD, "The Avalon Talks," and the "On My Way Home" collection of talks. He is founder of The Art of Being, a comprehensive approach to happy, healthy, and enlightened living. His work was featured in a documentary film called Sacred Sex.
Annette Knoop speaks on Jan. 30 about rediscovering the inherent preciousness and openness of our being. She is a counselor, retreat leader, and associate pastor of Fellowship of the Heart.
"She primarily works with women's circles," Brown said.
Steven Pague will teach about the natural mysteries of the world on Feb. 6. He is the co-director of the Omega Maho Bay program. Through years of work at Omega's Rhinebeck, New York campus, he has helped gather and center the energy of groups large and small with music, movement, chanting, and prayer.
Island residents are also invited to the Omega seminars. Prices run $35 per class, $75 per day and $350 per week.
The seminars run for a week. The dates are Jan. 14 to Jan. 21, Jan. 23 to Jan. 27 and Jan. 30 to Feb. 3.
