Top V.I. High School Cross-Country Runners Will Compete in Footlocker

Nov. 26, 2005 – The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation announced today that the two top high school cross-country runners in the Virgin Islands, Juan Robles and Anecia Williams, will compete in the annual Footlocker Cross-Country South Region Championships in Charlotte, North Carolina this Friday. Robles, a junior at the St. Croix Central High School, won each of the V.I. Pace Runner- 4-H Club Cross-Country Series in St. Croix over the past three years. The former St. Croix Central High School junior, coached by Chris Encarnacion, is the top male high school runner in the territory. Williams, a senior at the Evanna Eudora Kean High School, is undefeated in the high school ranks and was the first place finisher in the V.I. Cross-Country Championships. She is coached by Mario Toussaint. The V.I. Olympic Committee made the trip to North Carolina possible with a transportation grant. The Footlocker Cross-Country South Championship meet is a qualifying meet for the national championship meet to be held in California in December.
