The V.I. Energy Office Funds Lighting Projects

Oct. 26, 2005 – Commissioner Dean C. Plaskett, of the Department of Planning and Natural Resources, announced that the Virgin Islands Energy Office (VIEO), through the Parks and Public Places Lighting Program, has funded the following projects:
► $92,165 to the Caribbean Drag Racing Association for the installation of energy efficient sport lighting at the St. Croix Drag Racing Complex.
► $54,000 to Housing, Parks, and Recreation for the installation of energy efficient lights at the Roosevelt Park, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas
► $41,478 to St. Croix Foundation to install solar-powered lights in a parking lot located at 29-30 Company Street, Christiansted, St. Croix
► $6,500 to the Positive Connections Alternative Education School for high-efficiency lights on the school's campus
The lighting program was implemented to address the numerous requests for energy-efficient and solar lighting projects by government and nonprofit entities, according to the press release from DPNR.
