FYI: Governor Re-Nominates Chongasing to Hospital Board and Four to Horse Racing Commission on St. Croix

Sept. 21, 2005 – Governor Charles W. Turnbull re-nominated Beverly Chonasing to the Hospitals and Health Facilities Corporation District Governing Board for St. Thomas-St. John. The governor also nominated four Virgin Islands residents to serve on the Horse Racing Commission on St. Croix. The term of appointment on the board and commission is three years.
In re-nominating Chongasing to the Hospitals and Health Facilities for St. Thomas and St. John, the governor said that she has been an invaluable and resourceful asset to the Board. As a member on the Hospitals and Health Facilities Corporation District Governing Board for several years, Chongasing served as its chairperson and treasurer.Ray Anthony Iles, and
Governor Turnbull nominated Wayne L. Biggs Jr. to the Horse Racing Commission of St. Croix. He will replace Dr. Ralph A. de Chabert who resigned. Biggs Jr. is an Economic Development Specialist with the Small Business Administration. He holds a Masters in Business Administration from the University of the Virgin Islands and a Bachelor of Science degree from Bradley University.
Lawrence E. Motta Jr., who will fill the expired term of Trevor R. James on the Horse Racing Commission, is employed as a Sanitation Supervisor for the Department of Public Works. He is a retired Police Lieutenant whose love of horses and interest in horse racing moved him to owning and racing his own horses.
The governor also nominated Norman Cuencas to the Horse Racing Commission. He will replace Clarence A. Heyliger whose term has also expired. Cuencas is employed as a Sales Person with Caribbean Auto Mart. He is also a former Real Estate agent and a Chemist.
Veterinary Technician Ray Anthony lles has been nominated to serve on the Horse Racing Commission. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Pace University in New York.
In submitting his nominees to the Legislature for approval, Governor Turnbull asked the advice and consent of that Body and said their prompt and favorable confirmation will allow the board and commission to continue to function and meet their busy agenda without interruption.
