Police Identify Shooting Victim

Aug. 24, 2005 – St. Thomas police have identified the man who was shot and killed Tuesday morning on lower Kronprindsens Gade as 27-year-old Francisco Stevens. A little over 24 hours after the shooting, homicide investigators remain without a motive or suspect in the case. "The murder is under investigation," Deputy Chief Angelo Hill said.
Stevens was shot around 2 a.m. and died later at Schneider Regional the result of the multiple gunshot wounds he suffered. Police spent hours combing the area for evidence.
"Stevens was shot at the intersection of Habbets Gade and Kronprindsens Gade a few feet away from an establishment known commonly as Fireman's Bar," Hill said.
An autopsy on the body is expected to be performed Wednesday. Police would not say whether Stevens was the victim of a drive-by shooting or whether his death resulted from an altercation with another person.
In the 13 killings in the St. Thomas – St. John district this year, arrests have been made in two of the cases. There have been 13 killings to date on St. Croix as well.
