St. Croix Education Complex High School Makes Changes to Uniform Policy for 2005-2006

Aug. 9, 2005 – In a press release from the St. Croix Educational Complex High School, Principal Kurt Vialet announces that changes have been made to the school's uniform policy. Vialet advises parents, guardians, students and the general public that effective August 2005 each student will be expected to comply with the new regulations for the dress code and that failure to do so will result in the student being sent home until the school attire meets the requirements of the mandates. The dress code is as follows:
FEMALES
Skirt: Plaid boxed or knife accordion pleated, no shorter than two inches above knee.
NO DESIGNS, YOKES, BIBS, CUMMERBUND WAISTS, GATHERS, WRAPS, SPLITS OR SKORTS.

Pants: Long gray slacks only (i.e. Dockers, Dickies, Chinos). Custom or tailor-made slacks may not be excessively baggy, skin tight, or sewn with a cummerbund waist. Waistlines or pant cuffs may not be sewn with the plaid material used in the skirt. Hems of pants are not to exceed the top of shoes. ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS OR PANTS MADE WITH DENIM WILL BE PERMITTED. NO EXCEPTIONSTO THIS POLICY WILL BE ALLOWED.
Blouse: White, pull-over or short-sleeve cotton blouse with collar.
Shoes: (A) Dress Shoes: black, brown or gray shoes. NO SLIDES, MULES, OR HIGH-HEELS.
(B) Sneakers: black, white or gray only. NO OPEN BACK SNEAKERS,
NO BOOTS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED.

Socks: White, blue or gray socks must be worn at all times when wearing the school uniform.
Jewelry: One watch, one pair of earrings, and one chain.
Hair: No caps or hats. ABSOLUTELY NO HEAD WRAPS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED (this includes head ties, scarves, wrap bands and bandanas).
MALES
Pants: Long gray slacks only (i.e. Dockers, Dickies, Chinos). Custom or tailor-made slacks may not be excessively baggy, skin tight, or sewn with a cummerbund waist. Hems of pants are not to exceed the top of shoes.ABSOLUTELY NO JEANS OR PANTS MADE WITH DENIM WILL BE PERMITTED. NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY WILL BE ALLOWED.
Shirt: White pullover or short-sleeve cotton shirt with collar.
Shoes: (A) Dress Shoes: black, brown or gray shoes.
(B) Sneakers: black, white or gray only.
NO BOOTS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED.
Jewelry: MALE STUDENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO WEAR EARRINGS.
Hair: ABSOLUTELY NO HATS, CAPS OR HEAD WRAPS OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED (this includes head ties, scarves, wave caps/doo-rags and bandanas).
Socks: White, blue, or gray only socks are permitted.
UNISEX (MALE/FEMALE) POLICIES
Only white undershirts are to be worn under the school shirt or blouse (this includes t-shirts or marinas).
School IDs are a mandatory part of the uniform and should be worn at all times. Students will have until Sept. 30 to purchase their IDs.
Absolutely no bandanas will be displayed as a part of the uniform.
Vialet further reiterated the penalty for violations of the dress code saying that, "The dress code will be strictly enforced. Violations of the policy, in part or in its entirety, will result in dismissal from classes until the appropriate adjustment is made. It is recognized that not all situations and conditions can possibly be covered by a dress code. Therefore, the administration reserves the right to determine the appropriateness of any item of school dress."
