News Brief: Doctors Invited to Learn About Dengue

August 2, 2005 – Dr. Mark Beaty of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has invited private physicians to attend a presentation on caring for dengue patients.
According to a recent release from Department of Health Commissioner Darlene Carty, the presentation will start at 11 a.m. in the hospital's conference room. The presentation was requested by JFL medical director, Dr. Kendall Griffith, and was coordinated by epidemiologist Dr. Eugene Tull.
Tull has previously expressed concerns that compliance by private physicians reporting dengue has been very poor, and that lack of reporting has made it impossible to establish whether this year's outbreak is worse than any other year, since no baseline has been established.
Commissioner Carty urged private physicians to attend this important presentation.
