Special Education to Dispose Archived Student Files

July 27, 2005 – According to a press release from the St. Croix District Office of Special Education, the records of those who have participated in the Special Education Program prior to 1995 will be destroyed. Former participants wishing to obtain their records are asked to contact Joycelyn Ryan or Joyslin Powell at 773-7997 to make arrangements for pickup.
People who feel that they may need these records for other purposes in the future, such as determining Supplemental Security Income (SSI) eligibility, may obtain records by coming in to the Office of Special Education Services with documents certifying legal guardianship or authorization to release information This notice will be posted for 60 days. Effective September 30, the office will begin destroying the records.
