Cooperative Extension Service Offers Workshop on Diabetes

July 21. 2005 – The University of the Virgin Islands' Cooperative Extension Service, the 4-H/Family, Consumer Sciences Program and Department of Health Bureau of Nutrition Services are co-sponsoring a free workshop on diabetes. The workshop will be held on Tuesday, August 16, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the UVI Small Business Development Center, Nisky Shopping Center, Suite 720 on St. Thomas.
According to CES, many topics will be covered, including: how much of the local starchy foods a diabetic can eat, how to determine serving sizes for starchy foods, how to count carbohydrates and how to read nutrition food labels. There will also be food demonstrations, food tasting, and recipe sharing.
